What comes after 3.9? 3.10 or 4.0?
Those of you who follow these things closely will be aware that Version 4.0 of WordPress was released last Thursday.
We will be testing and rolling the update out to WordPress Managed sites over the next week or so, and should have the entire exercise completed by Friday, 26 September 2014. If you’re a Mywebapps WordPress Managed client and you’d like your site/s to be upgraded sooner (or later), please get in touch and let us know your requirements.
I will admit to being a tad confused as to why the upgrade was numbered WordPress 4.0 rather than WordPress 3.10. It’s a nice enough upgrade, but appears to be more cosmetic than functional in nature. Perhaps it’s time for WordPress to introduce proper Semantic Versioning, so it’s immediately clear whether the update is considered Major, Minor or simply a Patch?
